Create A Brighter Future
For Our Youth
Funding cuts have left 40 of our youth clients without access to over 100 group art therapy sessions this year.
Your support can help bring them back.
As we look back on this year, we’re reminded why access to art therapy matters more than ever. While we’ve seen the impact art therapy has had on over 12,000 individuals, the growing demand for mental health services reminds us that our work is far from done. Due to significant funding cuts, many youth programs have been lost, even as the mental health crisis continues to loom.
Every year more young people report feelings of sadness, anxiety, or depression, yet many still go without support. TATP’s art therapy groups offer a vital space to process emotions and navigate life’s challenges.
Art Therapy Creates Safe Spaces to Thrive
The invaluable social and emotional skills our young clients gain through group art therapy are applied in everyday life. With increased self-awareness and emotional language, they express their feelings more effectively leading to fewer negative behaviors and creating a powerful ripple effect among peers and within their communities.
“In many schools, overwhelming emotions are met with punishment. In art therapy, they’re met with support. When students are given a safe space to express themselves through materials, not discipline, they begin to build trust, self-awareness, and coping skills.
If youth art therapy programs continue to lose funding, these students won’t have the opportunity or safe space to positively and effectively develop their social and emotional skills.” - Jenny Asaro, MPS, ATR-BC, LCAT , The Art Therapy Project
