We interviewed Lauren Latella, PhD, co-chair of our Young Professionals Leadership Group, to learn more about youth mental health and current trends. Lauren is a psychologist in the child and adolescent outpatient department at Bellevue Hospital. The pandemic brought on a new wave of health concerns and challenges for people of all ages, but it has deeply affected the youth population due to the lack of in-person schooling, structure, socialization and extracurricular activities. Sadly, this has led to a significant increase in suicide and attempted suicide causing another mental health crisis.
